Our Mission
Cast64 brings the I Ching—a treasure of Chinese traditional culture—into the modern era. We believe in:
🎓 Rational Approach
Respecting cultural heritage while maintaining scientific thinking
⚡ Convenient Tools
Traditional divination takes 15-20 minutes; we deliver results in seconds
🤖 AI Enhancement
Leveraging large language models for multi-faceted interpretations
📚 Continuous Learning
Not just a divination tool, but a comprehensive I Ching knowledge base
Sources & Academic Foundation
All hexagram interpretations on this site have been carefully curated and structured, based on authoritative sources:
- 📖 I Ching (Classic Edition)
Original text with modern annotations
- 📖 The Ten Wings (十翼)
Ten commentaries by Confucius and his disciples
- 📖 Image Commentaries (象传)
Symbolic interpretations of hexagrams and lines
We have systematically decomposed and structured these classical texts, ensuring every hexagram and line interpretation is grounded in traditional scholarship. This structured data is also used to train AI models, enabling more accurate understanding and interpretation of hexagrams.
Technical Implementation
🪙 The Three-Coins Method
We use the traditional three-coins divination method: toss three coins where heads = 3 points (yang), tails = 2 points (yin). The sum determines the line: 6 = old yin (changing), 7 = young yang, 8 = young yin, 9 = old yang (changing). Repeat six times from bottom to top to form a complete hexagram.
🤖 AI-Assisted Interpretation
We employ large language models (LLMs) that integrate interpretations from the original text, the Ten Wings, and modern scholarship. Combined with your specific questions and context, the AI acts like a knowledgeable I Ching mentor, analyzing hexagrams from multiple perspectives.
Notable Figures & the I Ching
Throughout history, many brilliant minds have studied the I Ching deeply:
Confucius
Devoted his later years to studying the I Ching, literally "wearing through" the binding cords
Gottfried Leibniz
Discovered the correspondence between I Ching and binary numbers, influencing modern computer science
Carl Jung
Incorporated I Ching into psychology to understand the human unconscious
Sima Qian
Established the I Ching's historical significance in the Records of the Grand Historian
Our Position
We are not promoting superstition, but practicing rational inheritance of traditional culture
The value of the I Ching as an important part of Chinese culture lies in:
- • Providing a methodology for multi-perspective thinking
- • Embodying simple dialectical philosophy
- • Recording ancient observations of nature and human life
We encourage users to treat the I Ching as reference and inspiration, not blind dependency. Important decisions still require rational analysis and professional consultation.
